Though Pride 2020 may not be what we expected or hoped, may we use this opportunity to reflect on the history of the Stonewall Riots (28Jun-3Jul 1969) and the work we have ahead of us.

On this 51st anniversary of the catalyst for the lgbtq* civil rights movement, may we remember those still vulnerable to discrimination and violence and may we honor them with action.

We still have children fearful of being outcast by their own family and of being bullied to the point of considering suicide as an option.

We still have seniors vulnerable to abuse and discrimination by caretakers and assisted living facilities.

We still have a disproportionate amount of our trans* brothers and sisters of color being murdered.

We have lgbtq* people fleeing their homelands seeking asylum in the US only to be subjected to more abuse when they get here.

We still have much work to do.
Let’s use this time to reflect, roll up our sleeves and get to work.

Try to record a moment of that precious time together- voice, video &/or photo. Write her a letter to thank her and show her your love and appreciation.

Spoken Soul Festival celebrates SWAN Day 2014

Another month, another project.  This month, I've been preparing for SWAN Day with the Spoken Soul Festival.

This year marks the 7th year for SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) and the 10th for Spoken Soul Festival.

This weekend there will be events  showcasing a finely-curated selection of women making moves in the Arts.

Visual artists, poets, singers, comediennes, performers- with the common denominator among us being that we are passionate women artists who use our talents, not just to express ourselves, but to bring issues to light and better the world around us.

For those who are not in the Miami area, at least a couple of these events will be streamed live online.

Aqua was selected for exhibition at "ArtExplosion", a Juried Art Exhibition by Arts United.
